There is no one size fits all nail shape that works for everyone. To determine which shape is best for you, consider your lifestyle, natural nail shape, and style preferences.
For something low maintenance and easy to do at home, opt for round nails. They are simple yet neat, and can work on both long and short nails.
Both oval and almond-shaped nails are popular because they make your fingers look longer. Oval-shaped nails are filed at the edges for an egg-shaped shape. Almond nails are similar, but they are more pointed towards the top. As the name suggests, they look like almonds. A good electric nail file makes filing nails easier.
Square and “squoval” shaped nails both give an elegant appearance. Square shaped nails are less prone to breakage than other nail shapes. Squoval (a mix between square and oval) nails are similar in shape to square nails, but with rounded edges.
If you are looking for something bold and trendy, go for stiletto nails. A favorite among fashion influencers and celebrities, stiletto nails are for the bold. Since they are so long, it’s best to opt for gel or acrylic nails if you want a stiletto shape.
For a more toned down version of stiletto nails, go for ballerina nails. Like stiletto nails, they are filed straight down to a square center. It is also called coffin nails.
